Iraq violence is down, all we can say is thank goodness and if Bush wants to credit his surge, we agree with that too

I was not for a surge, but if the violence is down and he wants credit fine, I think it is a multiplicity of things, including the Brits handing stuff over in Basra, us handing stuff over, the realization in the Arab world that the Shia majority is coming into its own and the dwindling respect for Riyadh and for North African jihadis.

It seems like it is all those things, including a clear directive that we dont intend to stay forever, but it is fine if the troop surge is also counted, violence is down and for that we are really thankful.
